Miss Whittaker, Mrs Smith and Mrs Alam have had a really enjoyable week with Year 2; the children have been working extremely hard and are getting into the swing of things already! We are looking forward to a very busy year ahead, with lots of exciting topics to learn about!
We will be covering Geography and Art through our ‘London’ topic as we explore famous landmarks in London, human and physical features, maps of London and comparing London with Accrington.
We begin our English this half term by looking at the story 'The Way Home For Wolf' . We will be looking at characters and events and shall be relating them to our own experiences. We will practise using capital letters, full stops and different conjunctions (because, but, so, when). You can practise writing sentences at home.
In Science we will be looking at our local environment. We will be studying minibeasts and their microhabitats around school and looking at plants and trees in our locality.
During maths, we are developing our understanding of place value. Practising partitioning and ordering numbers at home will help.
In RE lessons, we will be learning about friendship and how Jesus is a friend to everyone.
