Welcome to your Weekly Learning Page!

Here you will find lots of daily English, Maths, Science and other activities. This is to help you all to continue to learn at home and flourish!

Miss Whittaker, Miss Durkin and Miss Woodcock have been amazed at how resilient and positive you have been and hope you all remain in these high spirits as the weeks go on. We are loving receiving your learning at home updates :) Keep up the fantastic work you are all doing! We are very proud.

Unfortunately, the video tutorials for fractions are too long to upload. I have added two photographs to hopefully illustrate the methods.

To find fractions of a number:

* Look at the denominator (the bottom part of the fraction)

* Draw this many sharing circles, similar to the method for division

* Share the number between these sharing circles

*Look at the numerator (the top part of the fraction)

*This tells you how many sharing circles to count to find the final answer

To find fractions of a set of objects:

*Count the number of objects there are

*Then follow the same method to find fractions of a number

Finding fractions of a number TUES (look at the denominator, draw this many sharing circles, share the number, look at the numerator for the number of sharing circles you need to count)

Finding fraction of a set of objects- This is the same method as Tuesday BUT you will need to count the set of objects to know the number of the fraction you are finding

English 20.4.2020

We will now be following English units which have been fully planned each week. Each unit is based on a text with an activity to complete each day. There will be a letter attached each week that will outline any grammar learning. Please look at the attached letter and plans for the week and do not hesitate to contact me with any questions :)

Mathematics 20.4.2020

This week, we are focussing on addition and subtraction. Please open the 'Home Learning' document for an outline of activities for each day. You may wish to write your own calculations to complete or you can access a worksheet for each day in the resources section.

We have already covered the methods in class. However, Miss Whittaker has uploaded a video to refresh the processes. I'm at the end of an email if you need support with this :)

Science

In Science, we are learning about animals and their habitats. Here are some activities you can try out at home:

  • Look at the PowerPoint ‘Living, Dead or Never Alive’. Have a look around the house or outside and find objects which are alive or not alive and decide why.
  • Go on a minibeast hunt. Can you name any of the minibeasts you find? You can extend this by then looking at any features they have e.g. a hard shell and find out why they have these features. You may wish to complete some observational drawings of the minibeasts you find or create a fact file about them.
  • Have a look at the microhabitats of different minibeasts and why they live there.
