Class 1
Welcome to Class 1!
A very warm welcome to Class 1!
Reception is an exciting and important year as children begin their journey through school. In Class 1, we aim to provide a happy, safe and stimulating environment where every child feels valued, confident and ready to learn.
Throughout the year, the children will develop new skills, build friendships, grow in independence and explore the world around them through a balance of adult-led learning and purposeful play. We want every child to develop a love of learning and to feel proud of everything they achieve.
Meet the Team
Our Class 1 team is here to support your child throughout their Reception journey.

We work closely together to ensure that every child feels happy, safe and supported in school. Building positive relationships with our children and families is extremely important to us, so please do not hesitate to speak to a member of the Class 1 team if you have any questions or concerns.
Our Class
In Class 1, learning is all about exploring, discovering, creating and having fun!
Our Reception curriculum is designed to support children's development across all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage. Children have opportunities to develop their communication and language, physical skills, personal and social development, literacy and mathematical understanding, as well as exploring the world and expressing themselves creatively.
We encourage children to be curious, ask questions, share their ideas, solve problems and become increasingly independent. Most importantly, we want our children to feel confident to have a go, learn from their experiences and celebrate their achievements.
Our Classroom
Our classroom has been carefully organised to provide children with an exciting and engaging environment in which they can learn through both play and structured activities.
Children have access to a range of different learning areas, including construction, creative activities, role play, reading, writing, maths, small world and investigation opportunities. Our provision changes and develops throughout the year to reflect the children's learning, interests and the units of work we are exploring.
Our classroom extends beyond the four walls too! Children have regular access to our outdoor learning environment, where they can develop their physical skills, explore, investigate and continue their learning on a larger scale.
We encourage children to independently choose resources, follow their own ideas and take responsibility for looking after their classroom.
Our Class Charity
This year, Class 1 has chosen Milly’s Smiles as our class charity. We wanted to support a local charity that helps children and families during difficult times.
Milly’s Smiles supports families whose children have been newly diagnosed with a cancer-related illness. They provide special Milly Bags containing practical and comforting items to support families during hospital stays.
Throughout the year, we will teach the children about kindness, helping others and making a positive difference, before taking part in a sponsored event in May 2027 to raise money for this wonderful charity.
We are very proud to be supporting Milly’s Smiles! 💛
